Sweet Pongal / Charkarai Pongal
Ingredients :
Raw Rice = 1 cup
Moong Dal -1/4 cup or little more
Jaggery (Round Jaggery) - 2 1/4 cups
Ghee - 5 tbls
Cashews - Few - Cut into pieces
Raisins - Few
Cardamom - 1 (Crushed)
Salt - 2 pinches
Cooking Method :
1. Mix Rice & Moong dal, wash it 3-4 times.
2. Put it into cooker , add salt, add 2.5 cups ,keep it for 3-4 whistles. Remove and keep it aside to get cool
3. Powder the jaggery, put it in a pan with little water and heat it. Once jaggery dissolves and syrup became thicken, filter it and add it with the boiled rice and moong dal. Mix it well until it mixed with one another.
4. Fry cashews and raisins in some ghee and add with the pongal.
5. Keep the pongal in the stove again and mix all together, add some ghee and remove from heat.
6. It is now ready to serve.
