Sambar

Ingredients :

1. Thuvar Dal : 1 cup (which I gave for dhall measurement)
2. Vegetables - Drumstick/capsicum/Hyacinth beans/Radish(red/white)/Ladies finger -  50 gms
3. Tomato : 1
4. Onion : 1  
5. Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
6. Chilli powder : 1.5 tsp
6. Cumin Seeds (Jeeragam) : 1/4 tsp
7. Fenugreek (Vendhayam): 1/4 tsp
8. Asafetida (Perungayam) : a pinch.
9. Urad Dal : 1/4 tsp
10. Mustard seeds : 1/4 tsp
11. Curry Leaves : 2 twigs
12. Coriander leaves : little
13. Tamarind / Puli : 1/2 lemon size
14. Salt : 1/2 tsp
15. Oil : 1.5 tsp

Preparation :

1. Wash and Add 2.5 cups of water (Same size of a cup) + Turmeric and boil it in a cooker. 3-4 whistle.
2. Soak Tamarind in 3/4 tumbler water
3. Mash the dal well by Paddle (mathtthu-மத்து).
4. Add 1/4 tumbler water, heat it.
5. While heating add chopped onion, tomato, vegetable (anyone), chilli powder, juice of Tamarind and Salt. Close the cooker, leave it under heat for 2 whistle then switch of the stove
6. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, Fenugreek and asafetida. Fry it until mustard cracks and urad dal becomes brown. Add now curry leaves fry it and remove it from heat, add this into the sambar in the cooker, mix it.
7. Add cut coriander leaves.  

Now it is ready to serve.
