Onion Sambar
Ingredients :
This sambar doesnt need of a vegetable.
1. Thuvar Dal : 1 cup (which I gave for dhall measurement)
4. Onion : 1 (big)
3. Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
4. Red Chilli : 2
5. Cumin Seeds (Jeeragam) : 1/4 tsp
6. Asafetida (Perungayam) : a pinch.
7. Mustard seeds : 1/4 tsp
8. Curry Leaves : 2 twigs
9. Coriander leaves : little
10. Tamarind / Puli : 1/2 lemon size
11. Salt : 1/2 tsp
12. Oil : 1.5 tsp
Preparation :
1. Wash and Add 2.5 cups of water (Same size of a cup) + Turmeric and boil it in a cooker. leave it for 3-4 whistle.
2. Soak Tamarind in 3/4 tumbler water
3. Mash the dal well by Paddle (mathtthu-மத்து).
4. Add 1/4 tumbler water, heat it.
5. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and asafetida. Fry it until mustard cracks add the cut onion, saute until it gets brown. Add now curry leaves fry it and remove it from heat, add this into the dal, add tamarind juice and salt. leave it in the heat for about 3-4 mins. 7. Remove from heat, add cut coriander leaves.
Now it is ready to serve.
Prepare potato fry/ Chicken Fry /Chicken 65 as side dish. Would be a great match !
