Rasam


Ingrediants :



1. Tamarind (imli/Puli) - Half lemon size (Soak into 1.5 cup of water) 


2. Asafoetida (Hing/Perungayam) : a pinch


3. Turmeric Powder : 2 pinches


4. Mustard seeds : 1/4 tspn


5. Red Chilli : 1


6. Rasa podi : 1.5 tspn


7. Garlic : 2-3 (Smashed)

8. Curry Leaves - 1 twig

9. Coriander Leaves  - little

10. Salt - 1/2 tspn
11. Oil : 2 tspn

Preparation :

 



1.  Extract the juice from Tamarind. (Filter it using hand). If need, add little more water and extract the juice.


2. Add  rasa podi, turmeric powder, Smashed Garlic, and Salt in the tamarind water, keep it aside. 


3. Heat oil in a Kadai, put mustard seeds, let it breaks, and red chilli pieces, curry leaves fry it for half a minute, add the tamarind juice mixer.


4. Leave it to boil for 3-4 minutes.


5. Remove from fire, add coriander leaves.



Tomato Rasam : 



If you want to add Tomato, you can add one smashed tomato in tamarind juice , add half a cup more water.  Boil it extra 2-3 minutes.


Rasam is Ready.
